Straumur delight | northern lights dance in the dark sky above the former cultural center Straumur near Reykjavík, Iceland and are reflected in a tidal pond - Realisiert mit Pictrs.commagic monday | sunrise on a jetty in Konstanz with upcoming fog - Realisiert mit Pictrs.comthe last ship | a jetty with a lonely ship with a foggy sunrise - Realisiert mit Pictrs.coma new day at the old castle | Neuschwanstein castle in the morning fog with a fiery sky and glowing mountain peaks in the background - Realisiert mit Pictrs.comCinderella above the clouds | Neuschwanstein castle thrones above the fog in front of majestic mountain peaks - Realisiert mit Pictrs.comhallowed be thy name | sunrise behind a small chapel (Haldenberg, Friedrichshafen, Germany) - Realisiert mit Pictrs.comStepahani | sunrise over an old wooden jetty at lake constance - Realisiert mit Pictrs.comLet there be light! | I was in Iceland for ten days and nights and until the last night there was never a clear sky. At least not at a time when there were also Northern Lights. I had to spend the last night near the airport because the flight was supposed to leave early in the morning. Unfortunately, there are no more spectacular landscapes in this area that can serve as a foreground for the Northern Lights, but the night was mostly clear, the Northern Lights were spectacular and so I just had to take the chance again. - Realisiert mit Pictrs.comFata Morgana | At sunset, the dunes around the desert resort of Qasr al Sarab are besieged by romantics who want to enjoy the spectacle. Everyone, everyone without exception, makes the mistake of leaving the dunes as soon as the ball of the sun has disappeared from the sky. Until then, however, everything is quite unspectacular, due to the heavy haze, the sun is often no longer visible for some time before the actual sunset. If you wait about half an hour, you still get to see a nice play of colors. - Realisiert mit Pictrs.comSkyline Dubai | Cloudless sunsets are generally not too spectacular, but the hazy sky over Dubai shines in the most beautiful colors about half an hour after sunset - Realisiert mit Pictrs.commorning at Dubai Business Bay | The first morning in Dubai. I only landed around midnight, then immigration control, fetching my luggage and picking up the rental car - I was at the hotel around 2 a.m. and at five the alarm clock rang again. Half an hour by car and then another 15 minute walk to this spot. I hadn't even positioned myself correctly and then I was able to get a picture just before the wind started and the reflection was gone. - Realisiert mit Pictrs.comUNESCO world heritage pile dwellings | Snow on Lake Constance doesn't happen very often. Miraculously, however, it had snowed a little on the Saturday before the third Advent in 2022 and everything was covered with a little white sugar. For a long time I had thought about where to photograph this rare event. My choice fell on the pile dwellings in Unteruhldingen, a place where I have not often photographed. Surprisingly, it had cleared up during the night - the morning was freezing cold, but the mood was very nice. - Realisiert mit Pictrs.comholidays are coming | The first snow of winter in my region, freshly fallen the evening before, creates a beautiful atmosphere around Neuschwanstein Castle with the fog - Realisiert mit Pictrs.comBúðakirkja | A completely unplanned subject: this morning I wanted to shoot on the north side of the Snæfellsnes Peninsula at Kirkjufell - the reflection of the mountain and the sunrise in the lagoon on the west side of the mountain. But strong winds and a cloudless morning thwarted this plan. I drove straight on towards my next quarters, passing Buðir on the south side of the peninsula. Spontaneously I made another stop and photographed the well-known black church of Buðir at dawn. Just in time, because a bank of fog was approaching from the east, which soon engulfed the church. - Realisiert mit Pictrs.coml'ultima lanterna | Venice, sestiere San Marco, january 2022 - Realisiert mit Pictrs.commalinconica calma | Venice, sestiere Dorsoduro, january 2022 - Realisiert mit Pictrs.comcastle in the air | When I arrived at the viewpoint on the Zellerhorn, Hohenzollern Castle was still shrouded in thick fog and couldn't be seen. But the fog was already beginning to recede towards the north. After a short time the first tower could be seen and soon the whole castle could be seen like a mirage above the fog. This sight did not last a minute, then the fog released the entire mountain and the magic was gone... - Realisiert mit Pictrs.comPuente Nuevo de Ronda | The Puente Nuevo in Ronda spans the Rio Guadalevín and the El Tajo Gorge, it connects the old town of La Ciudad with the newer district of El Mercadillo. The imposing bridge is the main attraction of the city. It was built in the 18th century after an arch bridge that had been erected shortly before collapsed in the same place after only a few months.
At MIrador you are never alone at the blue hour in the evening, I had to photograph so many couples in front of the bridge that I almost never got around to taking pictures myself... - Realisiert mit Pictrs.comBaños Doña María de Padilla | I had already visited the Real Alcázar de Seville a few years ago, but this wonderful place had somehow escaped me during my visit at the time. Later I saw pictures of it and since then it has been clear: I absolutely have to go there again... - Realisiert mit Pictrs.comMuseo de Artes y Costumbres Populares de Sevilla | Since I first visited Seville, I have loved this building and its reflection in the Estanque Central in the Plaza de América on the site of the Ibero-American Exhibition of 1929. Apparently nobody was at home in the attic of the left tower this time :-) - Realisiert mit Pictrs.comCalleja de las Flores | In the early morning you still have the Calleja de las Flores in Córdoba to yourself. And as an encore, the first rays of sun bathe the Torre Campanario in a wonderfully warm light. - Realisiert mit Pictrs.comWasserburg | For a change I went to a (for me) new photo spot. Since this place is half an hour's drive from my home, I was all the more pleased that the conditions were quite good. There are undoubtedly sunsets with more dramatic skies, but Lake Constance is rarely as smooth as it is on this evening - Realisiert mit Pictrs.comice age | For this picture I would have liked some ground fog ...
The morning was clear and cold (the thermometer at the location showed -22°C), and I was hoping for perfect conditions, as there is often a bit of fog at this location and at these temperatures the trees are white with hoar frost. But when I drove onto the highway, I could already see a thick bank of high fog in the direction of travel - I wanted the fog below and not above! Fortunately, shortly before Füssen it became clear that this high fog did not quite reach the mountains. Nevertheless, when I arrived, the entire sky over the church was gray, the mountains could not be seen, but at exactly the right time the clouds of fog cleared and gave a view of the mountain tops.
Nevertheless, a little ground fog would have created a mystical atmosphere and more hoarfrost on the trees. - Realisiert mit Pictrs.coma wintry fairytale | Already a week vacation and the first time. that there was some color in the sky early in the morning instead of fog ... Another novelty: I'm usually all alone in this place at sunrise, this morning for the first time a second person with a camera and tripod was there. Not that it will become a hotspot! - Realisiert mit Pictrs.comNeuschwanstein castle | Neuschwanstein Castle stands above Hohenschwangau near Füssen in the southeastern Bavarian Allgäu. The building was built in 1869 for the Bavarian King Ludwig II as an idealized idea of a knight's castle from the Middle Ages.
Neuschwanstein is the most famous of the castles of Ludwig II and one of the most famous sights in Germany. It is visited by around 1.5 million tourists annually. Neuschwanstein, often referred to as the “fairytale castle”, is open to visitors almost all year round. The architecture and interior are characterized by romantic eclecticism of the 19th century; the castle is considered a major work of historicism. The aim is to include the "Ludwig castles" Neuschwanstein, Linderhof and Herrenchiemsee in the list of UNESCO World Heritage Sites - Realisiert mit Pictrs.comReinebow | While I waited an eternity for the perfect moment - sun on the Olstinden and reflection in the water - a rainbow formed over the Gravdalsbukta for a short time. Unfortunately, a fishing boat had caused a few waves shortly before - a perfect reflection in the smooth water would have been the salt in the soup here... - Realisiert mit Pictrs.comSnow-White and Rose-Red | The red rorbuer of Hamnøy present themselves in a fresh white dress on this cloudy morning from a classic perspective - Realisiert mit Pictrs.comWahat al Karama | Opposite the Sheikh Zayed Mosque in Abu Dhabi is the Wahat al Karama, a memorial to the country's soldiers. The central square is determined by a flat water surface, in which the large mosque is reflected - Realisiert mit Pictrs.comBlejsko jezero | Lake Bled in northern Slovenia is known to photographers for its foggy moods. Of course, I also hoped that the morning mist would waft around the island and allow mysterious insights and views. Unfortunately, that was not granted to me, only a small amount of steam rose from the water surface into the cold air. Since I will probably have to plan a stay in this area again... - Realisiert mit Pictrs.comPhare du Petit Minou | The Phare du Petit Minou in the district of the commune of Plouzané in the department of Finistère marks the passage of the Strait of Brest. Its identifier is Fl(2)WR.6s, its range is 19 nm. What makes it attractive to photographers is the winding, paved path that leads across an arched bridge to the lighthouse - Realisiert mit Pictrs.comCôte de Granit Rose | Especially in the evening light, the reddish color of the rocks of the rose granite coast in the north of Brittany comes into its own. In the background the Phare de Mean Ruz (Breton: red stone), also known as Phare de Ploumanac'h. - Realisiert mit Pictrs.comglowing fog | Slowly the fog clears, the sun penetrates and the sky is already blue. The avenue to Poggio Covili in the Tuscan Val d'Orcia is recognizable, the cypress trees cast long shadows on the field. Silence dominates the place, I have these mystical moments all to myself... - Realisiert mit Pictrs.comO'er all the hilltops is quiet now | O’er all the hilltops
Is quiet now,
In all the treetops
Hearest thou
Hardly a breath;
The birds are asleep in the trees:
Wait, soon like these
Thou too shalt rest.
(Johann Wolfgang von Goethe, 1780)

Dawn in Val d'Orcia. After a rainy day, it cleared overnight, the temperature dropped sharply, allowing the formation of fog overlying the valleys, swaying, wafting, sometimes hauling here, pulling there and creating a mystical morning mood - Realisiert mit Pictrs.comtuscany dreams | At first the morning did not look like much - while I waited, if maybe there was something in the direction of color in the clouds, it even rained a few times. But: It's not over the fat lady sings. And just before sunrise, it was actually so far and the clouds turned spectacular - Realisiert mit Pictrs.comvisioni di Venezia | Rio del Scoacamini, Sestiere San Marco, Venezia - Realisiert mit Pictrs.comthe red huts | This is the "back" of the village Hamnøy in Lofoten - a little further to the left is the harbor of the fishing village. On this cloudy morning, the red fishermen's huts are the only splash of color in the otherwise monochrome landscape... - Realisiert mit Pictrs.comChristmas Wonderland II | The special charm of this small chapel high above Berchtesgaden lies in the view of the Watzmann. At Christmas time, the small Christmas tree with its lights completes the picture. This motif is so popular that up to ten photographers jostled for the best seats in front of the church. No wonder, because snowfall on the day before had provided for a fresh snowy landscape and for the following days they forecasted thawing... - Realisiert mit Pictrs.comHohenzollern castle | there was fog forcasted so I got up at five a.m. and drove one and a half hour with the car to take pictures of the sunrise at the Zellerhorn viewpoint with the Hohenzollern castle. I was hoping that the fog would raise higher and only the castle would be seen above an ocean of fog. Unfortunately the fog was only down in the valleys... But the fullmoonset a short time before sunrise and the play of colors was worth the trip - Realisiert mit Pictrs.comPoggio Covili | one scenic highlight follows the other in Val d'Orcia. Here you see Poggio Covili manor above the valley filled with fog in the early morning light - Realisiert mit Pictrs.com
